Sean C. Pierce is one of the founding attorneys of Harbuck Keith & Holmes LLC and practices across Alabama and the Southeast from its Birmingham office. Mr. Pierce is rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell and has over 15 years of experience in handling labor and employment, professional liability (including E&O, D&O and malpractice), and cyber security and data privacy and protection claims and cases on behalf of his clients, with an emphasis on complex litigation and class actions.

He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Alabama and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His experience includes defending his clients in state and federal court, before municipal, state and federal administrative boards, and in arbitration. He has also served as outside General Counsel for multiple clients.

Mr. Pierce represents management and employers in all aspects of labor and employment matters, and is particularly experienced in internal investigations and audits, and litigation through trial and appeal, of matters arising under state and federal laws and regulations. Mr. Pierce’s practice also focuses on the counsel and defense of professional liability claims against attorneys, accountants, financial advisers and institutions (including FINRA), engineers, architects and other design professionals (including intellectual property disputes), insurance agents and brokers, notaries and real estate professionals, officers and directors, and health care providers, from physicians to hospitals.

Mr. Pierce has developed an expertise in both ethics and compliance, and cyber security and data privacy and protection, for both medical and non-medical institutions and individuals. He is also experienced in commercial litigation, drug and medical device product liability, and mass, environmental and toxic tort litigation.

He is the co-author of the Mississippi Chapter of DRI’s 2012 “Professional Liability Insurance Coverage: A Compendium of State Law.”

Mr Pierce currently serves as the Vice President of CLM's Alabama Chapter. He was named as an Alabama Super Lawyers “Rising Star” for 2010-14, and as a "Top Rated Employment Litigation Attorney" for 2015. He was appointed to the Birmingham Bar Association’s inaugural Diversity/Inclusivity Committee in 2015. He is on the Steering Committee of DRI’s Professional Liability Committee, currently serves as Lawyers Vice Chair, and has served as the Chair and/or Vice Chair of its Real Estate and Design Professionals Substantive Law Groups.
